"Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'."

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle.

The story introduces Harry Potter, an orphan raised by his cruel relatives, the Dursleys. On his eleventh birthday, he discovers he is a wizard and receives an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Harry makes close friends—Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger—and learns about his past, including how the dark wizard Lord Voldemort murdered his parents but failed to kill him.

The central mystery revolves around the Philosopher’s Stone, a magical object that grants immortality. Harry, Ron, and Hermione uncover a plot to steal it. In the climax, Harry confronts Professor Quirrell, who is hosting a weakened Voldemort. With his friends’ help and his mother’s protective love, Harry prevents Voldemort from regaining power.

Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
